Since 1852, the YMCA of Greater Springfield has been a way of life for thousands of
youth, teens, families and seniors throughout our region. Their Men of Color Health
Awareness program (MOCHA) has been conducting sessions with older men, addressing
health disparities and combat prostate cancer in men of color and are expanding and
altering the program to work with Y-AIM, a teen drop-out prevention program that the
Y operates in Springfield's inner-city. This project would spread the health disparity
message to the younger generation while empowering them to do something about it
before it has already had a significant impact on their lives.

by the experience of our co-founder, Josh Trautwein, who, while working as a program

Bridge Over Troubled Waters

For over 50 years, Bridge Over Troubled Waters (Bridge) has guided homeless,
runaway and at-risk youth on the path to a stable home and self-sufficient future.
Bridge founders were among the first to recognize and respond to the growing crisis of
youth homelessness in the late ‘60s and were instrumental in advocating for the
authorization of the US Runaway and Homeless Youth (RHY) Act in 1974. Bridge’s
Mobile Medical Van, the nation’s first, and Bridge’s Transitional Living Program have
been named national models for replication. Bridge continues to be a national model
and innovator for RHY services and in 2017 Bridge became the first agency in Boston to
provide youth-only Rapid Re-housing.

Cambridge HEART (Holistic Emergency Alternative Response Team) is a crisis response
and public safety program for Cambridge, MA. HEART addresses a need for alternative
ways for individuals experiencing crises (including those related to mental health,
substance use, and domestic violence) to receive help at their moment of need. It also
enhances community cohesion by facilitating residents’ knowledge of and access to
existing community services
The Dimock Center

The Dimock Center serves the most vulnerable residents of Boston with comprehensive,
integrated care, which includes primary health care, behavioral health support,
substance use disorder treatment and early education programs. More than 70% of our
patients and families are very low-income and live in our community of Roxbury and
surrounding neighborhoods, communities of color that have been disproportionately
impacted by COVID-19 and the accompanying economic impact for the past two years.

Transformational Prison Project

Transformational Prison Project (TPP) is a MA-based Restorative Justice (RJ) program
with a mission to provide spaces where those who have been harmed and those who
have done the harming can come together and engage in dialogue. TPP seeks to build
understanding of the individual harms and the systemic harms that affect communities,
including communities of color. Our programs allow system-impacted individuals to
understand how trauma has played a role in their lives, how their actions have
impacted others, and how to heal from their past experiences. We work with survivors,
people who are incarcerated, system-impacted young adults, formerly-incarcerated
citizens, and communities in need of healing.

Young Man with a Plan

Young Man with a Plan (YMWAP), launched in 2015, creates a new culture of
brotherhood, respect, aspiration and achievement for 175 at-risk Black and Latino male
teens and young adults in Boston. YMWAP achieves this through research-informed
strategies of connecting youth to caring adults; strengthening youth academic, social
emotional, critical thinking, and financial literacy skills; engaging students in
individualized success planning; and creating a protective community.
